Dakota Homestead Title Insurance Company was established to serve those involved
in the title insurance industry. This includes abstracters, bankers, realtors,
builders and attorneys. But with the advent of the Internet, Dakota Homestead also
seeks to serve individuals who prefer to shop for title insurance on their own.
The Company's mission is to provide the best service in the title insurance industry
throughout the Midwest. Our goal is to provide our market with a stable source of
underwriting including knowledgeable attorneys, prompt and accurate answers, and
excellent service. To this end we have established an on-line ordering service to
make the ordering process easier for all interested parties.
Dakota Homestead opened for business on January 1, 1994. Since then we have secured
agents in 56 of South Dakota's 66 counties. We serve more agents than any other
underwriter in South Dakota, including agents in the ten largest markets of South
Dakota. Dakota Homestead Title Insurance Company continues to receive a Financial
Stability Rating of A (Exceptional) by Demotech. This level of Financial Stability
Rating indicates that Dakota Homestead balance sheet reflects excellent liquidity,
an acceptable level of Financial leverage as measured by total liabilities to statutory
net worth and a balanced portfolio of insurance products.
Dakota Homestead is committed to educating consumers and users of title insurance. During
the South Dakota Land Title Association's annual meetings, we implement educational seminars
for our agents on the most recent title insurance breakthroughs. Dakota Homestead also hosts
many seminars for realtors, bankers, and attorneys to educate them on various title insurance
issues. Through the Internet, our seminars will be listed for the consumers' individual education.
